Writing classes. Art classes. A seminar on arts and aesthetics. A retreat option. The Glen Workshop combines an intensive learning experience with a lively festival of the arts. It takes place in the stark, dramatic beauty of the Sangre de Cristo mountains and within easy reach of the rich cultural, artistic, and spiritual traditions of northern New Mexico. Lodging and meals are included with registration at affordable rates. A low-cost "commuter" rate is also available for those who wish to camp, stay with friends, or otherwise find their own food and lodging.
The next Glen Workshop will take place July 27 through August 3, 2008, at St John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The theme for the week, "The Artist and the City," will explore the role of the believing artist in the public square. Faculty and speakers will be announced soon.

Each year we offer a week of classes in writing and the visual arts as well as a lively seminar. These classes are offered in the morning. Afternoons and evenings feature presentations by the faculty, and a concert. Each evening concludes with an ecumenical worship service that also incorporates the arts.
What is the Glen Workshop?
Classes at The Glen are led by nationally known authors and artists. Small class sizes allow the faculty to give close attention to each participant—whether he or she is a beginner or well advanced in his or her craft. The Glen is also an illuminating conference on the relationship between art and religious faith, where participants practice and strengthen their craft and vision in community.
The Program
Each participant selects one class. Classes are held concurrently each morning. Afternoons and evenings feature readings, lectures, and concerts. Each day ends with an ecumenical worship service that also incorporates the arts.
Writing classes combine general instruction and discussion with the workshop experience, in which each individual's works are read and discussed critically. In the visual arts classes, students will create new work throughout the week, while also receiving individual and general instruction. For those seeking a non-workshop class solely devoted to study and discussion, we offer a seminar on art and aesthetics, in which selected readings and screenings, as well as appreciations of sacred music and dance, will stimulate discussion on a variety of topics.
