We are pleased to present an Image Intensive workshop with Nate Klug!

Hosts & Guests

Poetry Writing with Nate Klug

An eight-week craft workshop on poetry
April 9-May 28

Tuesdays, 7:30-8:45 PM Eastern

We are pleased to announce another Image Intensive, an opportunity to dive deeper into your craft, guided by faculty from our community who understand the unique impulses and challenges facing artists at the intersection of art and faith.

Immerse yourself in reading and writing that explore what it means to be a host and a guest in the world today. (In Latin, the single word hospes means both “host” and “guest.”) Our sources of inspiration will include spiritual texts about strangers and angels, poetry and prose from a variety of human and animal perspectives, and the records of our own senses and memories. If all writing is an act of translation, and translating is a crossing over, this is a workshop for those who are interested in new ways to approach the threshold between the strange and familiar.

Each class session will combine close reading, writing from a prompt, and discussion of student work. Each student will also receive detailed feedback through a one-on-one Zoom call with the instructor.

In a small-group setting capped at 12 students, participants will experience:

  • Exploratory conversation about what it means to be a host and guest in the world today
  • One 75-minute Zoom session each week for 8 weeks
  • Opportunities to read poetry from a variety of perspectives as a cohort each week
  • Generative writing opportunities, calling for poetic responses to given prompts that will then be shared with your cohort
  • Individual review (4 poems per participant) will be reviewed in-depth by Nate Klug
  • A one-on-one individual Zoom call with Nate Klug to review your work.

This workshop is for poets of all levels who wish to explore the wonder, doubt, darkness, and beauty that shape us. If you are yearning for a compassionate writing community, seeking to learn more about yourself, hoping for a thorough review of your work, or wishing for a supportive place to grow in your craft, this workshop is for you.

$895

This four-week seminar will be held on Zoom on Tuesdays and Thursdays from August 29-September 21.
