Isaac Anderson grew up in south Texas and Kansas City. He is Image’s 2016-17 Milton Fellow. His work has appeared in Image, Fourth Genre, Portland Magazine, The Atlantic, Los Angeles Review of Books, and elsewhere, and his essay “Lord God Bird” received honorable mention in Best American Essays. He holds an MFA in creative writing from the Ohio State University, has taught at Ohio State, Lenoir-Rhyne University, and Western Theological Seminary, and has been a writer-in-residence at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts.
Isaac will be reading essays from his manuscript-in-progress titled This Is How the End Begins, which considers subjects such as American identities and rituals, fidelity, addiction, loneliness and prayer, and faith as a meaning-making instrument and as a spur to wrestling with the unknown.
