Good Letters

20091126-giving-thanks-by-greg-wolfeDear Readers of Good Letters:

As it is Thanksgiving Day, I thought I might take this opportunity to pop out from behind the curtain and share a few brief words with you, including a bit of news and a word of thanks.

We’re now a year and a half into this literary experiment—less a blog in the traditional sense and more a place to encounter a beautifully crafted daily meditation.

That’s as it should be–because Good Letters is sponsored by IMAGE, a literary journal that features the most exquisitely crafted, moving, and intelligent writing being produced today by those who grapple with the perennial questions of faith.

The fourteen contributors who make up the Good Letters team cover an amazing amount of territory, from film, music, and poetry to dispatches from the front lines of parenthood. I am deeply grateful for their gift of good, honest prose.

I should mention here that two of our founding writers are moving on—Santiago Ramos and Ann Conway. We wish them many blessings and hope that they’ll come back and guest-post from time to time. We’re delighted to welcome two new writers to the team—Dyana Herron and David Griffith—writers whose voices and visions you’ll soon come to know and love.

On a practical note, some of you may have noticed that the comments you write in response to Good Letters posts are no longer showing up instantly—and occasionally take several hours to post to the website.

That’s because we are now moderating comments. Sad to say, one or two bad eggs made this necessary. Rest assured that the blog is being observed closely by the IMAGE staff so that it should never be more than a few hours before your comments are approved and posted to the site.

Finally, as I give thanks to you, our readers, I hope you might find it possible to give thanks for “Good Letters,” IMAGE, and our other programs by making an end-of-year financial donation so that we can continue our work, including the world-class writing you expect to find on this blog.

The truth is that “Good Letters” could not exist without the generosity of its contributing writers and IMAGE’s donors.

Won’t you please show your thanks by making a gift of $25, $50, $100, $500, $1,000 or more? Enjoy this day with your friends and family.

Yours,

Gregory Wolfe
