We are pleased to present an Image Intensive workshop with Lauren F. Winner!

Waiting on Words

Creative Nonfiction with Lauren F. Winner

A five-week craft workshop on creative nonfiction
November 28-December 29

Choose either Tuesdays 1 pm ET or Fridays 5 pm ET
Two options to suit your schedule!

We are pleased to announce our latest Image Intensive, an opportunity to dive deeper into your craft, guided by faculty from our community who understand the unique impulses and challenges facing artists at the intersections of art, faith, and mystery.

From our facilitator, Lauren F. Winner:

Waiting and generating; patience and urgency—these are all ingredients of the writing life. In this five-session workshop, we will enter the season of Advent with prayerful attention and focus, and we will both wait patiently for our words and undertake reading and writing exercises that summon our words.

In a small-group setting capped at 12 students, participants will experience:

  1. Attendance at one 60-minute session each week over 5 weeks. Understanding that it's a busy season, we've created two options each week: either Tuesday at 1 pm Eastern or Friday at 5 pm Eastern. (Note: Participants may attend whichever session works for them each week or even both, but the exercises will be identical on Tuesday and Friday.)
  2. A writing exercise will be distributed to each participant over the weekend. This will allow attendees to enter the week with attentiveness, and pen to paper.
  3. In each live session, Lauren Winner will offer an opening centering practice, two generative exercises with generous solo-writing time, and a concluding opportunity for a few attendees to share their writing. Some of the centerings and exercises will be more overtly hooked to Advent, and some will be less so.
  4. During the five weeks, each person also receives one 1-on-1 30-minute phone call with Lauren Winner to discuss their writing life, what’s opening up for them, and what’s challenging.

This workshop is for anyone who wants to enter into the quiet and waiting of Advent with pen to paper; anyone who is in a season of waiting for words to come.

If you are yearning for a compassionate writing community, seeking to learn more about yourself, hoping for a thorough review of your work, or wishing for a supportive place to grow in your craft, this workshop is for you.

$895

This four-week seminar will be held on Zoom on Tuesdays and Thursdays from August 29-September 21.
