Dear friends,
For over a quarter of a century, Image has brought forth beauty into a world too often torn by malevolence, discord, amnesia, and plain ugliness. From its inception, Image has chosen not to be part of the culture wars. Instead, Image has found effective ways to allow Beauty (in the words of C.S. Lewis) to “steal past those watchful dragons” of both the institutional church and secular culture to point to the source of all goodness and truth.

The accolades and awards we have received for our journals and programs—both in the church and in the public square—bear witness to Image's success and influence. Thank you!
Thank you because we could not have accomplished anything without your generous and faithful support. We expect that you, too, have seen the value Image brings to you, others around you, and the culture at large. But you took the extra step and provided financial support for the organization and its goal: to bring renewal to places in our common culture that seem dry and parched.
Thank you.
Thank you for appreciating our publications. Thank you for attending our many programs, including the Glen. Thank you for being part of our community. Thank you for your financial support. Thank you for receiving this letter with grace, knowing that, as so many charities do this time of year, we will be asking for your support to launch us into 2018. Thank you.
Furthermore, Image remains foundationally committed to its “big tent” philosophy—publishing art and literature across the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim faith traditions without a political agenda to push. We believe that in an age of falsely binary political and cultural choices, beauty is the best guide toward the One who is the source of all beauty.
This is the hope Image. This is the hope of the community around Image. This is the prayer of the board and staff.
Here’s a quick rundown on what made this a banner year for Image:
- The Image podcast, hosted by our own Sophia Ross, has gone live, with episodes featuring the likes of Levertov award-winning essayist Richard Rodriguez, poet Carolyn Forché, poet and SPU MFA director Scott Cairns, and Vox film critic Alissa Wilkinson. Every episode features and interview, and often a little extra, including poetry readings, book discussions, and more. Tune in every other Friday for new content, and don't forget to subscribe on your favorite podcast app.
For Image to continue serving both the church and the broader culture, we need your help. Otherwise, the forces that would reduce this world to mere utility, power, and self-interest will win the day. You can make this happen.
Our goal this year is $275,000.
Will you help us reach that goal by supporting Image with a gift now?
Your gift will literally make a world of difference.
Gratefully,
The Board of Image
