Poetry

across the street       there are horses
and my favorite       the palomino
whose coat is light               as a wing
the underside           of a wing
touches the grass     as though kissing
something he loves             what are words
                                   the green stems
that tickle a snout                what are words
for a hoof        and the shadow
what are words        little graves
his hooves      leave behind
